How to Move to Another Nashville Apartment
Aug 6th, 2007 by Nashville apartments
There are a variety of reasons you may have to move to another Nashville apartment in your building. A sewage line busted and your carpet was covered in raw sewage. You are in a top floor Nashville apartment and water damage caved in the roof in your living room. You can no longer climb the three flights of stairs to your Nashville apartment and a ground level Nashville apartment has become available.
Regardless of the reason, you have to move to another Nashville apartment. You did not like moving into the Nashville apartment you currently have, and you definitely are not looking forward to moving into your new Nashville apartment. The following suggestions will help make this move as painless and effortless as possible for you.
You should pack your boxes so that if anything is broken in the move, you know you are probably responsible. Get heavy boxes so the boxes do not fall apart when lifted. Pack your boxes by room and label each box as to the room it goes in. Move all of your boxes against the walls so the movers have a path to walk through. Move your furniture out of the way as well. Just push it back toward the walls so the movers do not trip on anything or bang into furniture.
You can either hire a moving company or hire a couple of your neighbors to move your belongings. If you hire neighbors, remember they are not professionals. Do not expect them to move your stuff without a few scrapes and breaks along the way. Be prepared to pay neighbors on the day they move you. You do not want to create resentment or bad feelings with people you live near.
More than likely, the Nashville apartment you are moving to has either the same floor plan or a mirror version. Therefore, have your movers start in the room farthest away from the front door. Move the furniture in first. They will place the furniture exactly where you want it in the new Nashville apartment. Boxes will be placed in the appropriate rooms for you to unpack. Boxes should not block doorways. You should have a walking path from one side of the room to the other.
Once your movers have placed all of your furniture and boxes in your new Nashville apartment, you are ready to unpack. Begin in the back room again. As you empty boxes, stack them in another one. You should be able to quickly hang up clothes and put clothes back in dressers. Once you are finished with the back room, start moving forward until you are in the living room.
In the living room, make sure your furniture is exactly where you want it. Once you situate your furniture, begin to unpack your living room boxes. Your kitchen may be the slowest unpack just because you have foodstuff that you will want to sort and organize.
Once you empty all of your boxes, immediately dispose of them. Hopefully you have identified someone else who can use the boxes. Your landlord might be able to use them. If not, place them near the garbage bin. If someone can use the boxes, they will get them.
You are ready to make your final touches. Go through each room, straighten pictures, brush out wrinkles on blankets, and rearrange knick-knacks. Your last step is to vacuum to make sure all of your debris and paper/box dust is off your carpet. You should start in the back room and vacuum your way forward.
By following these suggestions, you should enjoy a painless and quick move in to your new Nashville apartment. You are likely to keep your rooms the same or similar. It will not be like when you moved into to your initial Nashville apartment and you had to figure out where to put everything. You are basically moving your belongings in an organized fashion from one place to a similar place.
